The CEO of LINBISK Farms, Mr. Bismark Okyere Asante, has called on the government of Ghana to prioritize innovation and technological advancements in the poultry sector to address rising production costs and the disparity in pricing between locally-produced chicken and imported frozen chicken.

In a recent press statement, Mr. Asante highlighted the challenges faced by Ghanaian poultry farmers, including the escalating cost of feed and limited access to modern farming practices. He emphasized that these challenges have made locally-produced chicken and eggs significantly more expensive than imported frozen alternatives.

“The price of frozen chicken in Ghana is lower because countries exporting to Ghana have embraced innovation and technology, making their production costs cheaper,” said Mr. Asante. “Their governments heavily invest in the agricultural sector, which provides farmers with affordable feed and resources. In Ghana, we lack that level of support, and it directly impacts the prices of our products.”

Mr. Asante also called for government intervention to equip local farmers with better tools and knowledge to manage feed costs and improve productivity. “Farmers in Ghana need access to affordable and high-quality feed, as well as education on modern farming techniques. This will not only lower production costs but also make our poultry products more competitive with imported goods,” he stated.

With Christmas fast approaching, Mr. Asante encouraged poultry farmers across the country to consider pricing their products moderately to support Ghanaian households during the festive season. “As farmers, we have a role to play in ensuring the standard of living improves for Ghanaians. I urge my fellow farmers to be considerate in their pricing as we approach the holidays,” he added.

Concluding his statement, Mr. Asante extended warm holiday wishes to all his customers and stakeholders, saying, “I wish all my buyers a Merry Christmas and a very profitable New Year. Together, we can build a thriving poultry industry that benefits everyone.”

The call from LINBISK Farms’ young and visionary CEO underscores the urgent need for systemic changes in Ghana’s agricultural sector to boost local production and ensure affordability for consumers.
