John Dramani Mahama has officially been sworn in as the President of the Republic of Ghana, taking the oath of office administered by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
This marks his return to the presidency after having previously served from 2012 to 2017.
The highly anticipated inauguration ceremony, held at the Black Star Square, was attended by 21 heads of state, foreign dignitaries, and thousands of citizens, making it a historic occasion in Ghana’s democratic journey.
In his inaugural address, President Mahama emphasized the need to reset the nation and chart a new course for the future.
“Today should mark the beginning of a new opportunity…we shall reset our dear nation, Ghana,” he declared. Acknowledging the tough challenges ahead, he stated, “The circumstances we find ourselves in are very dire,” but assured Ghanaians that he would be both “decisive and swift” in tackling the nation’s pressing issues.
